    Information required

    I keep lipochrome red Mosaics and I am having trouble keepin the white flight feathers they have
    A off white colour to them
    I only feed plain canary seeds and bianco egg food from hatching until 8 weeks of age when I start colour feeding
    I have been putting apple in the mash
    Any ideas or solutions would be most helpful //)) #

    I don't think apple could be the cause, but have you tried not to use it? I know that peas, for example, give a yellowish appereance to flight feathers...

    No but I am not going to use it this year and no peas or greens at all

    Peas color too much. I used it this season an Was a disaster. Sorry for my bad english

    Tony your English is good is better than my Italian I don't know how my Italian translates
    I am pulling my her out trying to think what to use so I can get true white flights
    I was at a Belguim vvnk show last weekend and saw a product called lus bianco have you tryed this
    Mabe it's the egg mash I am using

    I used lus bianco from 2years but was same. Many breeders said me that the problem is the peas for lipocromic canary

    Yes they do love the peas but they will not be getting them this year I shall try something else

    Sorry for my bad English, but I read about foods that can cause staining of the wing in white mosaic canaries. Peas and egg certainly can cause this defect. But we must not forget that the amount of the lipochrome deposit on the feathers still has a genetic root. Probably improve the quality of the subjects used for breeading may reduce the problem.

    Absolutely right Mr. Renato . If you want to figure out if it's just a question of food or genetics of your canaries , try unplugging some feathers and provide only the seeds.

    I undestand what you are saying and I am about to get some male birds that have white wings to put into my blood line
    As I did give this a thought.
    although it seems it only affects my male birds my hens do not show this fault so it may be genetics
